Your guide to at-home testing

Learn how to test successfully - top tips and how to best prepare for your blood collection

3 min read

To complete this test you’ll need to provide a small blood sample.

👩‍⚕️ If this is your first time taking a blood test with Qured, you’ll usually book an appointment with a health advisor who will guide you through each step of the process over a secure video call.

🤳 If you've tested with a Qured health advisor before, you can choose between a self-guided test that you take in your own time or a supervised video appointment with a health advisor.

Your testing kit includes an instruction guide that explains how you'll take the test in more detail.

Preparing to test: our top tips

Here's what you need to know before you start testing to help the process go as smoothly and quickly as possible.

📖 Read through your instructions – Familiarise yourself with the testing process before you begin so you know what's coming up.

⏰ Block out 25 minutes – Testing shouldn’t take long, but it’s important not to feel rushed.

💧Stay hydrated – Drink a large glass of water 20 minutes before your test. Being hydrated ensures good blood flow, making sample collection quicker and easier.

☑️ Register your test – You'll need to scan your test QR code in your app as you start your test to register your sample. Your code will be included on a sticky label in your kit.

👕 Wear a short-sleeved top – Blood samples are taken from the upper arm so wear short sleeves if you can. If you have lots of hair, you may need to shave the collection area so the device can form a seal when it sticks to your skin.

How the blood test process works

Collecting a blood sample can feel a little daunting, but there’s no need to worry – our tests are pain-free and easy to do. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect from the process:

1

Scan your QR code in the app: Tap to start your advisor-guided or self-guided test in the app, then scan your QR code when prompted.

Warm your arm: Use the warming pack to heat a small area of your upper arm for around 4 minutes.

Attach the testing device: Stick the TAP® II device to your arm. Press firmly on the blue plunger until it clicks to start collecting blood.

Collect your sample: Once the blood has reached the widest part of the vial, or when 4 minutes have passed, gently remove the device.

Post your sample: Detach the vial, stick the test QR code onto your sample, then package it up ready for posting.

Receiving your results

After completing your test, send your sample to our labs as soon as possible via your local Royal Mail postbox or post office to ensure accurate results.

The lab will then analyse your sample and send the results to a Qured GP to review. Please note it can take up to 5 working days to process your results.

If this is the first time you’ve taken this test or we spot anything we want to discuss with you, you’ll be invited to book a video call with a Qured doctor to talk through your results.

If you have any questions, remember you can always get in touch with a member of our support team via our live chat for help.
